We bet you’ve thought about doing a mud run at least once. The question is: Why haven’t you done it yet? It’s possible you had a lot of reasons you told yourself that you couldn’t do it.

Maybe you thought a mud run isn’t for me, or you didn’t think you could go the distance. Maybe you even thought that mud runs are scary! Guess what? It IS for you, you CAN do it, and MuckFest is NOT scary! Below we have listed the Top 5 Muddy Myths when it comes to MuckFest.

Myth #1: I won’t get to run in a wave with my friends.

First off, a “wave time” is not the time that a wave crashes onto the beach! It is the time that a participant begins the obstacle course! When you register as a team, we work super hard to make sure that your whole team will run together. This means you can get muddy with all your friends and family. While teams get to run together, only participants who have upgraded their wave time for $10 get to choose their wave time. If you want to have control over when you go, it’s a great thing to do!

Myth #2: If the first wave is at 9:00 AM, then I can make early afternoon plans.

This isn’t a run-and-done kind of event! Sure, you may have run a few 5Ks in your time, but MuckFest is a full-day experience. There are pre-mud activities to enjoy, muddy obstacles to challenge you on the course, and a fun festival area with food trucks, games, music, and booths to explore while you have a beer! Why would anyone want to make afternoon plans when there is so many fun to be had at MuckFest? Invite your friends and make it an all-day party!

Myth #3: I must be in great shape to participate in MuckFest.

Muck NO! MuckFest is for all athletic abilities. Participants can walk, run, skip or hop the course. If you don’t want to give an obstacle a go, that’s quite alright. All obstacles are optional if you don’t feel up to it. The main thing is that you’re having fun!

MuckFest is also for a wide range of ages! Kids starting at 10 years old can run with adult supervision, and we also have a Lil’ Muckers area where children from 5-11 years old can play on smaller versions of some of our mucky obstacles. We want everyone to have the chance for a muddy good time!

Myth #4: Fundraising is hard.

There are lots of ways to fundraise! With our tools and tips, it’s easy to send out a text, email or social media post to get friends and family excited about fundraising to end MS. Once you register you will have access to your Participant Center that will provide access to digital downloads, photos, infographics and ways to make the most of your fundraising experience. This is an excellent way to exceed your fundraising goal and show the world what your fundraising skills are like! Plus, you can earn great rewards, too!

Myth #5: Just my friend and I are participating. We don’t need to start a team.

Just because you’re just planning to join with one friend doesn’t mean you can’t have a team! You never know when some of your other friends may join you. Plus, if you sign up as a team, we’ll do our best to put you in the same wave time! Teams can be as small as two, or grow as more people decide to join in, and you can have as many people as you want on a team!

All goals in life start with a list of things you tell yourself to keep you from surpassing your goals. The muddy myths of MuckFest are very much the same. Don’t let things get in the way of your mucking good time on the obstacle course. Dive in, get muddy, and muck it up!
