“GBS Mucking It Up” Coming Soon to Dallas: 70 Muckers Strong

We’re excited to share the story of this unique corporate team getting mucky with us this weekend in Dallas!

Ismail Amla, Managing Partner at IBM GBS North America, challenged his teams in 2017 to get more involved in the communities they serve and to find a way to give back. One evening, over a dinner of Texas BBQ, Pat McDonnell, VP/Senior Partner at IBM GBS and Bill Gillispie, a longtime supporter of the National MS Society, started talking about this challenge and how to do some team building for IBM GBS that would also support the National MS Society. Bill has lived with multiple sclerosis for 18 years, is the Board Chair in Chicago, has participated in numerous Walk MS and Bike MS events, and is a seasoned Mucker. Team Gillispie has raised $1.86 million to support the National MS Society over the years.

During that Texas BBQ dinner, Pat and Bill decided to push the envelope and rally IBM GBS around the Dallas MuckFest MS event. To Pat and Bill’s delight, after hearing all the mucktacular stories they had to share about MuckFest MS, the muddy course, and the reason behind this event, the IBM GBS leadership team decided that mucking it in Dallas was exactly the team-building event they were looking for.

For IBM GBS, MuckFest MS is both ideal for team-building as well as a chance to give back to the community. On Saturday, the entire team of 70+ IBM GBS folks will take on a 5k course with 18 muddy obstacles. Being able to muck it with colleagues and superiors is an exciting, unique team-building experience for this group! We’re so grateful for the $10,000 goal this team has set to help people affected by MS live their best lives possible.

See you this weekend, GBS Mucking It Up!
