Guest Blog Post: Pete Mitchell, MuckFest MS Jacksonville

Check out this great note from our first guest blogger, the 2013 national top fundraiser for MuckFest® MS and a nine-season National Football League alum, Pete Mitchell. Pete is an extremely dedicated MuckFest MS Jacksonville mucker who spent five years as a tight end for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now, Pete is setting his sights on getting mucky in Jacksonville for a cure to multiple sclerosis.

I can’t wait to participate in MuckFest MS Jacksonville on March 22, 2014. It’s a great event, especially if you love being active outside and getting muddy. The event is challenging, but you can make it fit your personal level of physical fitness. Some obstacles are hard, some are hilarious, and the festival atmosphere is a blast.

However, this event is about way more than just running and having fun.

MuckFest MS raises money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, an incredible organization that I support because my dad has been fighting MS for 42 years. When you fundraise for MuckFest MS, you become part of the solution to end this horrible disease.

I want to challenge each of you across the country to raise $100 when you participate at a MuckFest MS event in 2014. My fundraising tip is to call up 20 of your friends and ask each for a donation of $10. I bet you’ll get 10 to say yes.

Not only will you be spreading the news about the great work of the National MS Society, you’ll truly be making a difference in the lives of those fighting to end MS. Plus, your call will inspire other people to join your MuckFest MS team and to start fundraising on behalf of the National MS Society!

Thank you for taking the time to read this post, and please know your efforts are sincerely appreciated. Together, we can get mucky and raise funds towards a cure for multiple sclerosis and help fighters like my dad. I’ll see you out there on the course in Jacksonville.”
